Poetry Highlight #1
I think in class we tend to focus on the classic poets of the past. However, the more I explore poetry, the more I find new poets and new poems being published in this decade that I really enjoy. One of these poems that I found recently is "I don’t know if I’m a person any more or just a thing that fights" by Jenny Justice. Through things going on in the world right now in response to corona, it is easy to feel alone in this weird situation. Yet, Jenny writes in her poem about the changes to the world, and through the poem, you can see that everyone is going through the same things and same thoughts and you the reader. This poem feels super relatable to almost any reader right now and overall was a fun poem to read.
